A Study on the Identification and Prediction of Latent Profile in Self-Care among Elderly Single Households

Abstract
The purpose of this study is to categorize the characteristics of self-care practice in single-person households, and empirically check the predictors of each category. The subjects of this study were 2,924 elderly people living alone using public care services. Predictive factors were analyzed by constructing variables in the dimensions of predisposing factors, desire factors, and possible factors using the conceptual framework of Andersen's behavior model and Ryan and Deci's self-determination theory. Multinomial logistic regression, latent profile analysis were conducted as data analysis methods, for this, SPSS 24.0 and Mplus 8 statistical programs were used. The results of this study are as follows: the latent profiles of self-care were categorized into a total of three groups, named ¡®Limited type¡¯, ¡®Conforming Type¡¯, and ¡®self-integration type¡¯. Based on the results of this study, practical and policy interventions as a community-based preventive care system and will have to build an environment supporting self-care in old age in preparation of a post-aged society.
